Welcome to Chat-SAM, a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) chatbot
developed by Sumitomo (SHI) Demag North America (referred to herein as
“we,” “our,” or “us”). By accessing or using Chat-SAM (the “Service”), you acknowledge
that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these
Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, & Operational Guidelines
(collectively, the “Terms”). If you do not agree with any part of these
Terms, you may not access or use the Service.
1. Description of the Service
Chat-SAM is an AI-assisted chatbot platform that utilizes Retrieval-Augmented Generation
(RAG) techniques and external large-language-model APIs (such as OpenAI’s GPT) to answer
user queries related to Sumitomo (SHI) Demag North America’s SAM-C robots.
The information provided is for general guidance only. Always consult official product
documentation and qualified professionals for technical or safety-critical decisions.
2. Data Usage & Privacy

Storage of Chat Data: We may store user queries and corresponding chatbot
responses to enhance the Service and troubleshoot issues. These conversations may be
retained temporarily or indefinitely in files such as
ALL_QA.jsonl for
internal analysis.

Third-Party Processing: Queries are processed by third-party AI
providers (e.g., OpenAI GPT API). By using this Service, you acknowledge that your input
text may be sent to such providers for generating responses.

Personal Data: We do not intentionally collect personal information beyond
what you voluntarily provide. Please refrain from including sensitive details (e.g.,
credit card numbers, health data) in your queries.

Data Security: While we employ reasonable measures to protect stored
conversation logs, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

3. OpenAI & Third-Party Services
Chat-SAM integrates with external APIs and open-source libraries, including:

OpenAI’s Terms of Use
and usage policies. We purchase access to the OpenAI service, but you must adhere to its
content and usage restrictions. We may suspend or terminate your access for excessive or
disallowed usage.

Open-Source Libraries: This product includes open-source software—such
as Flask, LangChain, BM25Retriever, and Eventlet—licensed under permissive licenses

4. User Conduct
When using Chat-SAM, you agree to:
- Use the Service only for lawful purposes.
- Avoid submitting content that is illegal, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise
harmful.
- Refrain from attempting to disrupt or compromise the Service’s security or
stability.
- Comply with all applicable local, state, national, or international laws and
regulations.
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access if these rules are violated or in the
event of any abusive behavior.
5. Disclaimers & Limitations of Liability

No Warranty: The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,”
without warranties of any kind (express or implied). We do not warrant the accuracy,
reliability, or completeness of the chatbot’s outputs. The system may occasionally
generate incorrect or incomplete information.

Should Chat-SAM be offered on a subscription basis, you agree to any posted pricing and
payment terms. We may adjust pricing or introduce new subscription tiers at our discretion,
providing prior notice to affected subscribers.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of
the State of Georgia, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
Any dispute arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the
exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in or serving Suwanee, Georgia.
